** When I first read James Fraser’s words I had just heard George Harrison’s “Within you Without you” on the newly released album ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’. My setting was written as a conscious parody of Harrison’s piece, and it was with some embarrassment that I subsequently offered it as an ensemble hymn. But at Lee Abbey a chorus of young adults sang it vigorously and with evident joy.
In the fifth line of the third stanza I have altered the original to make the lyric inclusive.
