This setting is really an introit for four-part choir. I have included it as a hymn because it can be easily learned by a congregation, and perhaps be sung as a post-Communion devotion.O-Lord-Jesus-Christ
This prayer is from My God My Glory (1954), a collection from Eric Milner-White, Dean of King’s College Cambridge who in 1928 introduced the annual broadcast Service of Nine Lessons and Carols. He was subsequently Dean of York Minster.
I don’t remember why I chose to set this prayer, but it may have been out of gratitude for having had the opportunity on several occasions of sharing in ministry in the parish of Bitterne Park, Southampton, where Milner-White grew up.
