*** Someone sent me a card inscribed with the couplet “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” At the time I was composing a musical Nativity tableau to be presented by members of the Lee Abbey Community in Devon, and I put this couplet to music to be the first words of the new-born Christ. Several years elapsed before I learned that Jill Jackson Miller and Sy Miller first used this opening line in their popular 1955 composition.
