Daw llafn o haul (A blade of your spring sunlight)

** In 2012 these words, by Siân Rhiannon, were set for the class in the National Eisteddfod in which a new hymn was to be composed. The lyric, roughly translated alongside the Welsh original, is a sunny affirmation of God’s love continually poured forth through the grace of creation.

LÔN Y LLAN (Church Street) is the name of the road where we live. My setting did not make it to the top four in the competition, but the composer of the winning entry and I chose the same rhythm pattern.
