On Mothering Sunday at St Thomas’ Peartree, Derby, it was the custom for our branch of the Mothers’ Union to sing an offering between the Epistle and the Gospel. Given the opportunity, I wrote them this versification of Mary’s Song. Cautious at first, branch members took to it willingly and sang it with verve and joy.
